KLAUS SCHAFLER

Klaus Schafler is a Vienna based artist. He studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, economics at the University of Graz and scienze politiche at the Universita' degli Studi di Messina. 

In his installations, performative actions and staged lectures he refers to phenomena and fictions of transition and fragility in different suburban structures and geopolitical landscapes. 

Awarded an art-science grant by the Austrian Ministry for Arts and Culture, he was fellow artist resident at LMCC (* Lower Manhatten Cultural Council), New York and subsequently guest critic at ART OMI, NY. He was working with the artist collective K.U.L.M., and is currently also co-running Kunsthalle Exnergasse in Vienna. 2015 he co-initiated the research and project platform “Grammar of Urgencies”, currently working on the subject of “Fleeting Territories”.
